Possibly the most amazing aspect of the trip was the opportunity to interact with the local people. This provided both the Andrews University students and the people of South Africa to show love to each other - in their own unique way.

Not only did the students get to meet the family and assess the site in person - they also were immersed in the culture of the place and its people. They could really listen to build.

During the trip, the Andrews University architecture class got the opportunity to present to the Mtshali family on the site. We were able to discuss the project with them, telling them about our different ideas and design solutions.

More importantly, we were able to receive feedback from the family. They gave honest and helpful critique for us to make changes to our current plans to make them more suitable for the family's specific needs.
